Wafaq ul Madaris Breaks the World Record Producing Over 1 Million ‘Hafiz e Quran’

Wafaq ul Madaris has become the largest Madarsa network in the world by producing over one million Haafiz-e-Quran – both male and female – in three decades.

“One million children have become Hafiz-e-Quran after an exam was introduced in 1982 by the Wafaq-ul-Madaris,” said Qari Hafeez Jalandhari – the general secretary of the Wafaq-ul-Madaris.

“More than 78,000 children became Hafiz-e-Quran in the year 2019 alone,” he said, adding that 14,000 of them were girls.

He said children from four to seven years of age take admission in these madrasas and memorize the Holy Quran in around two years.

Following their hifz, the students receive a primary education where they are taught Science, Mathematics, English, Urdu and Pakistan Studies.

Jalandhari compared the yearly figures of Hafiz-e-Quran in Pakistan to that of Saudi Arabia and said the Kingdom produces only five thousand huffaz every year.

“Even though Arabic is not our national language, more children memorize the Holy Quran in Pakistan,” he added.

Qari Hafeez Jalandhari said the Saudi government has also acknowledged the Wafaq ul Madaris’ efforts and conferred it with an award.
